Our History

Established in 1991, The Academy is a co-educational day school named in honor of Melvin Jones, the visionary founder of Lions Clubs International. We form a vital branch of a comprehensive campus network comprising three sister schools proudly sponsored by the Lions Club of Nakuru—an active affiliate of the world’s largest service organization, Lions Clubs International.

Our journey began from humble roots within the premises of our neighboring sister institution, Lions Primary, under the guiding stewardship of our first Headmistress, Mrs. Padmini Ramakrishnan. In January 1993, the school transitioned to its present location under the leadership of Mrs. S. K. Gill. Since that pivotal move, the institution has grown steadily in both student capacity and regional stature, cementing its reputation as an undisputed center of educational excellence.

Our rich legacy of leadership has been shaped by successive past heads, including Mrs. Cynthia D’Cunha and Mr. Vijay Sharma. Mr. Gerrald Ojode, our current Principal, took the helm in February 2018 to spearhead our modern era of development, working alongside Lion Purvi Shah, who serves as the current Chairman of the Lions Club of Nakuru Schools Management Board.

Driven by the enduring Lions international motto, “We Serve,” the academy strives tirelessly to meet the community's ever-growing demand for high-tier global education. Located in close proximity to the Nakuru central business district, our campus uniquely enjoys a serene, peaceful atmosphere completely insulated from the frantic hustle of daily city life. Our core strength lies in prudent institutional planning by management, an exceptionally devoted staff, a deeply ingrained culture of discipline, and top-tier educational facilities—fully equipping our learners to confidently navigate the challenges of both the present and the future.
